Origin of femoro-popliteal occlusions.

چکیده
In 1950 Lindbom published the results of a radiological survey of atherosclerotic lesions in 356 legs of 185 cadavers and in 295 arteriograms of 205 patients with arterial insufficiency. He identified two principal sites of origin for femoro-popliteal occlusions, the main one being in the adductor region and the subsidiary in the popliteal artery above the level of the knee-joint. In this survey a similar though simpler and more graphic method has been used to analyse the bilateral femoral arteriograms of a comprehensive group of 264 male patients suffering from intermittent claudication. The information obtained suggests that there are three principal sites of origin of femoropopliteal occlusions, and the relative incidence of occlusion at these sites has been assessed.

A comparison of the standard bolia technique versus subintimal recanalization plus Viabahn stent graft in the management of femoro-popliteal occlusions.
OBJECTIVE To assess the potential benefit of the addition of a covered stent to a subintimal recanalized artery in patients with femoro-popliteal occlusions. METHODS From September 2003 to October 2005, we retrospectively analyzed all patients admitted for severe claudication or critical limb ischemia related to long femoro-popliteal occlusions and treated with subintimal recanalization. Pati...

Femoro-popliteal PTA for the treatment of critical limb ischemia is frequently associated with unsatisfactory procedural success rates while directional atherectomy (DCA) has improved success rate since claudicant patients undergoing percutaneous treatment of femoro-popliteal obstructive disease. The aim of this prospective study is to evaluate the safety, efficacy and procedural success of DCA...

PURPOSE To compare long-term patency of Heparin-Bonded Dacron (HBD) and Human Umbilical Vein (HUV) vascular prostheses in above-knee femoro-popliteal bypass surgery. DESIGN A prospective randomized multi-centre clinical trial. PATIENTS AND METHODS Femoro-popliteal bypasses were performed in 129 patients between 1996 and 2001. After randomization 70 patients received an HUV and 59 an HBD pro...
متن کاملPTFE bypass to below-knee arteries: distal vein collar or not? A prospective randomised multicentre study.
BACKGROUND Patency and limb salvage after synthetic bypass to the arteries below-knee are inferior to that which can be achieved with autologous vein. Use of a vein collar at the distal anastomosis has been suggested to improve patency and limb salvage, a problem that is analysed in this randomised clinical study. METHODS Patients with critical limb ischaemia undergoing polytetrafluoroethylen...
